Meyer Turku’s Sustainability Report 2024 Has Been Published

Article 3.7.2025

Meyer Turku has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, marking the eighth consecutive year the company has voluntarily published a comprehensive overview of its environmental, social, and economic impact. The report features also up-to-date insights into the NEcOLEAP program and its recent progress.

The report shows how Meyer Turku integrates sustainability into its core operations and those of its partner network. It details the processes, projects, and concrete development actions through which the company advances its sustainability strategy.

While the sustainability report is not yet a legal or regulatory requirement for Meyer Turku, the company has found it to be a great way to compile the key sustainability goals and achievements between single covers.

With various global challenges shaking the shipbuilding industry in the past few years, the report has served as a reminder of the importance of more sustainable shipbuilding: regardless of the volume of fluctuations the shipyard experiences in the availability of raw materials and labour, prices or international politics, it must retain its unwavering long-term commitment to sustainable development of the maritime industry.

Turning Sustainability into a Competitive Edge

The report features a dedicated chapter on NEcOLEAP. It offers an overview of the program’s goals, recent achievements, and select project highlights, illustrating how NEcOLEAP is accelerating the industry’s green transition.

In the report, a slight shift can be seen in the terminology used for Meyer Turku’s and NEcOLEAP’s sustainability targets: the term net zero has replaced earlier expressions. This is because net zero has become the preferred language for organisational climate commitments. The term is widely recognised and clearly defined, offering a solid framework for pursuing meaningful emission reductions.

Looking ahead, Meyer Turku is preparing for the upcoming European Union Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Despite the changes made in its timeline, Meyer Turku has decided to proceed in line with the original plan and publish its first integrated financial and sustainability report in accordance with the directive in 2026, based on data from 2025.
